Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the difference between perfect and near rhymes?
Perfect rhymes have identical stressed vowel sounds and everything after them: “cat” and “hat.” Near rhymes share similar but not identical ending sounds: “cat” and “cap.” Near rhymes are useful for slant rhyme in poetry and songwriting where strict rhyming feels forced.
Does this work for non-English words?
The Datamuse API is English-only. Entering non-English words will either return no results or spurious English matches.
